01 — Where the boats lie

The sailing areas of France, biggest fleet first

Provence and the Côte d'Azur hold most of the fleet, from the calanques near Marseille to the Îles de Lérins off Cannes. Corsica is a separate ground — Bonifacio, the Maddalena across the strait, the west coast's gulfs. Poitou-Charentes means La Rochelle and the Atlantic islands.

03 — The bases

Where you set off

A charter boards at the marina its company names for your week — we show that marina on every card and every page, never a guess. The busiest bases first.

04 — When to go

Season, wind and the week

May to October on the Mediterranean coast, July and August the busiest. The mistral is the wind to respect — strong, from the north-west, often for days — in spring and autumn above all; summer afternoons bring a sea breeze. Most fleets change over on Saturday.

Most fleets change over on Saturday. A dated search shows only boats whose company allows exactly your stay — we never move your dates.
