02 — The boat

A crew, a cook and a deck built for lounging

A gulet is a broad, heavy wooden motorsailer from the Turkish coast: it sails little and motors most of the way, but it carries a crew that cooks, cleans and sails, and a deck made for eating and sunbathing.

  • Usually chartered with its crew, the whole boat at a time; the crew is in the price when the card says crewed.
  • Large cabins with their own bathrooms, and a deck table that seats the whole party.
  • Meals are often arranged with the crew as a daily board per person — the boat page lists what the company offers.
