01 — Where the boats lie

The sailing areas of Germany, biggest fleet first

Schleswig-Holstein's Baltic bases open onto the Flensburg and Kiel fjords and the Danish South Sea islands; Mecklenburg and Brandenburg are the lake districts, chartered by motor boat and house boat at a slower pace.

03 — The bases

Where you set off

A charter boards at the marina its company names for your week — we show that marina on every card and every page, never a guess. The busiest bases first.

04 — When to go

Season, wind and the week

May to September, with July and August the warmest and busiest. The Baltic is tidal only slightly, the weather changeable, and a sweater belongs aboard in any month. Changeover days vary by company.

Most fleets change over on Saturday. A dated search shows only boats whose company allows exactly your stay — we never move your dates.
